Investing into future champions
Long-term compounding growth
Who we are
Tectonic Investment Management
We are a boutique investment manager focused on investing into fast-growing, high-quality businesses that will be future market leaders. We manage a growth-focused absolute-return hedge fund (Tectonic Opportunities Fund), as well as offering co-investments into early-stage technology ventures (Tectonic Ventures).
We are 100% independent and our team has a long and successful track record having invested together for 16+ years. We invest alongside our clients - being the largest unit-holders in the Tectonic Opportunities Fund as well as co-investing in every Tectonic Ventures investment. Our unique fee structure means that we are fully aligned with our co-investors in maximising returns while limiting downside risk.
Our edge comes from deep, independent research and a willingness to hold conviction where others won't. We are flexible about where we invest in a company's capital structure — equity, mezzanine debt (primarily through convertible notes) or senior debt — and go wherever the risk-reward is best. We look for asymmetric opportunities i.e. positions where, if we're right, the payoff is several times the invested capital. This requires taking a long-term view, and having invested together through multiple cycles, we are comfortable giving our winners the time to grow into their full value.
Tectonic Opportunities Fund
The Tectonic Opportunities Fund (the Fund) is an actively managed, long-short portfolio of equity and equity-related securities that are privately held or publicly traded in Australia and other global markets. The Fund takes a high-conviction / low-turnover approach to investing into fast-growing high quality businesses that will be the future champions of their sector.
Tectonic Ventures
Tectonic Ventures focuses on early-stage technology-focused private investments into Australian-based ventures. We only invest in businesses driven by exceptional founders that will be the future disruptors in their space. Investments are typically made at the seed-stage or Series-A round with opportunities presented on a deal-by-deal basis to co-investors.
